New Beginnings
Anchor Scripture: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
September has arrived – a month that feels like a fresh notebook, a reset button, the soft whisper of early autumn and new rhythms. For many, it’s the start of a school year, a new quarter, or the beginning of new goals. But for us as a church, it’s more than seasonal change. It’s a divine invitation.
God is saying to us: “I am doing a new thing.”
New beginnings are not just about turning the page; they’re about allowing God to write a new chapter entirely. Isaiah’s words are not a gentle encouragement to move on, they are a prophetic command to stop living in the shadows of the past and embrace the bright horizon ahead.
God is not recycling old plans. He’s birthing something fresh.
What Does a New Beginning Require?
- Forget the Former Things
That doesn’t mean denying the past, it means not being defined by it. Let go of past disappointments, mistakes, or even successes that have become idols. New beginnings require uncluttered hearts. - Look with Expectation
God asks, “Do you not perceive it?” Sometimes we miss the new because we’re still staring at the old. This is a month to sharpen your spiritual vision. Pay attention because the fresh thing God is doing may not look like what you expected. - Trust His Process
God promises to make a way in the wilderness and rivers in dry places. That means even if your situation feels barren or lost, God is not intimidated. He creates beauty out of nothing and pathways where there were none.
A New Beginning for You
This theme isn’t just for the church collectively, it’s for you personally.
Maybe you’re starting over in your career, your faith, your relationships, or your mindset. Maybe you’ve felt stuck and are longing for fresh air in your spirit. This month, let God breathe new life into what feels dormant.
- Start the prayer life you’ve been putting off.
- Reignite your dream.
- Return to God with your whole heart.
- Recommit to the call He placed on your life.
It’s never too late to begin again when grace is your starting point.
A Church in Season
At Solid Rock Derby, we are embracing the new with open hearts and open hands. We believe God is stirring up fresh passion, vision, and movement in our midst and you’re invited to be part of it.
This September, come with expectation. Come with surrender. Come ready to see what only God can do.
Because the new is not coming, it’s already here.
Do you not perceive it?
