On 4th May 2025, our church family steps into a new chapter. After years of prayer, planning, and perseverance, Solid Rock Derby has officially opened its new doors in the very heart of Derby city centre.
Right in the middle of the city’s rhythm – among the shops, the cafes, the buses, and the bustle – now stands a beacon of hope, a house of worship, and a hub for community life. This isn’t just a move to a new building, it’s a declaration of presence. We are here, in the centre, on purpose – for a purpose.
More Than Just Bricks and Mortar
Of course, this building is beautiful, but what makes it truly special isn’t the structure, it’s the stories that will be written here. This is a place where faith will be rekindled, hope restored, and lives changed. A place where the lonely will find family, the weary will find rest, the broken will find healing, and the searching will find direction. And not just on Sundays. We envision a church that’s not just open on weekends, but active every day. A place where real conversations happen over tea and coffee, where skills are shared, needs are met, and dreams are sparked. A place where children laugh, teenagers grow, families connect, and individuals – no matter their background – feel like they belong.A Church In the City, For the City
Being in Derby’s city centre is no coincidence. It’s intentional. Cities are where people gather. They are full of complexity, beauty, and need. We believe the Church has something powerful to offer in this space – not just sermons, but service; not just worship, but witness; not just gatherings, but genuine impact. Our heart is to be a light right here – to bless the city, listen to its heartbeat, and serve its people. Whether through food initiatives, mental health support, youth mentorship, prayer walks, or cultural events – we want to be known for what we give, not what we ask. We believe this is how Jesus walked. He didn’t stay on the edges, he entered the crowd, he met people where they were, he told stories they could understand, he fed the hungry, healed the sick, honoured the overlooked and He’s still doing that – through His people.“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world. This building may be new, but the mission remains the same: to love God, love people, and make a difference. So, whether you’ve never stepped foot in a church before or have grown up in one all your life – you are welcome. Whether you’re full of faith or full of questions – you are welcome. Whether you’re passing by on your lunch break, looking for a place to connect, or simply curious – you are welcome. There is room for you here. And we believe that together, something beautiful can grow – something that spreads far beyond these walls. Because this isn’t just about us, it’s about the city, it’s about what God can do through everyday people who say yes to His call.“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history.
